Website Mentor, has worked with many Public Speakers and their Publicist's over the past several years. What I have found is that most of them are in agreement when it comes to the content and format of a Public Speaker website. I wanted to share some helpful tips for those of you who are Public Speakers in need of having a website developed or, already have one but maybe it could be better.

Public Speaker Website Template

  1. Home Page:
    1. When creating the main banner on the homepage make sure the C.T.A (Call To Action) is clear to the type of market you are after.
    2. Make sure to have some type of opt in form above the fold.
    3. Have your social media icons above the fold as well. I would advise to have these built into the template, the top header so that they are seen on all pages of your website.
    4. Make sure that your directives are focused on the top 3-4 main sections of the website I.E Services, Media, Booking Request, Online Store where applicable.
  2. Secondary Pages: (This is any page other then the home page).
    1. BIO: Make sure your bio page reflects the direction you are going in. Not just by use of the right images, but content as well. At the bottom of the page make sure to include a C.T.A such as find out how John Doe can work with you and insert a link to your services page, or contact page etc
    2. SERVICES: Make sure you have one page that summarizes each of the services you offer with links to go into the full page details of each one. Once again end each page with some type of C.T.A. Also include a few testimonies if you have them on these pages or make sure to have a main page with testimonies for your visitors to review. Lastly make sure the content and images on these pages work together.
    3. TESTIMONIES: By having a testimony page you  transform your sales pitch into a credible, unbiased recommendation for your service, product etc.
      1. Why are testimonials so effective?
        1. Testimonials build trust. Whether your customers are raving about what your service has done for them or about the great product you offer, they're telling your visitors first and foremost that they had a positive experience with you and or your company.
        2. Testimonials aren't "salesy." Because testimonials are not written in your words they stand out in your copy as candid and unbiased accounts of how well your service or product works.
        3. Testimonials overcome skepticism. A good testimonial has the power to convince even your "tough sell" visitors that your product or service really made a difference in their life-and can help them, too.
      1. My last tip is spell check every page to make sure the grammar and punctuation are correct.
